What you discuss in therapy is confidential. If I need to discuss your treatment with another professional, I will only do so with your voluntary consent.
You have the right to know my professional credentials and training.
I will provide you with information about my professional background and answer any questions that you may have about it.
You have the right to terminate treatment with me.
If you would like a referral to another therapist, I will be glad to provide you with the name of another provider. I suggest we discuss this decision.
You have the right to ask questions about your therapy.
The therapy process can, at times, create uncomfortable feelings. Discussing them with me is valuable and can actually enhance your treatment. I abide by professional codes of ethics that forbid sexual contact between a client/patient and the therapist.
